The chants of #Wengerout has been in the air for quite some time now. Last match day loss against the bottom positioned Crystal Palace, may have sealed Wenger’s exit from Arsenal at the end of this season. Arsenal’s quest for title hasn’t been fulfilled since many years. Every year the season starts with optimistic approach of Arsenal players and fans of them getting a shot at the title. However, this approach slowly fades away as the season reaches its conclusion. So, at the end of the season the only hope they are left with is qualifying for the Champions League.
From past many years now, Arsenal was able to qualify for the Champions League somehow. However, this season they are 7 points behind 4th placed Manchester City. So, a Champions League place looks highly unlikely. And to adding to the disappointment, for the first time since 1995, they will be finishing behind their city rivals the Spurs, who are positioned at 2nd place.
Wenger is one of the greatest managers and has created a legacy for himself. But, it is time now that Wenger should call it a day and pass over the reins of the Gunners to someone else. Atletico Madrid’s manager Diego Simeone is the one who can fulfil the desires of the fans and players of a title.
Here are 5 reasons why Wenger should handover his position to Diego Simeone:-
#1 He can convert talent into results:-
Arsenal is one of the best teams of the leagues. They are technically most sound team of the league. They have all the ingredients required to lift the silverware, but their talent is not getting utilised. Their on-paper master-class is not converted into wins.
Simeone is the manager, who, is known to get the best out of his players. Simeone believes in hard work and clocking hours on the training ground. That’s how he has built a strong line-up in Atletico Madrid. So, he will be the best to exploit the abundant talent that Arsenal possesses.
#2 He can utilize the wealth of Arsenal:-
Currently, Simeone is managing a team whose budget is tight. Despite of the budget constraints, he has managed to build a world-class team. He signed Greizmann for 24 million Euros, who is now valued 4 times his signing cost. So, Simeone does have an eye for talent. Arsenal have repeatedly, shown that they are the big players in the transfer market. They have been involved in big money moves of Sanchez and Ozil. With this kind of money, Simeone would be able to invest in players he likes. He would be spoilt for choices at Arsenal.
#3 He can solve the defensive worries of Arsenal:-
Arsenal’s defensive leakages this season are known to all. They have conceded 40 goals this season. That’s an awful amount of goals, considering the talent they have at the back. Last season, Simeone’s team only conceded 18 goals in 38 matches. That’s less than even half goals that Arsenal have conceded this season. No wonder, Atletico is always in contention of the title. Simeone can help Arsenal mend all their leakages and build a wall around their goal.
#4 He can instil a winning mentality:-
Arsenal players have looked down and out this whole season. Oppositions have gone past them without any difficulty. They have never looked to come back from a goal deficit. Winning titles with this mentality is a far-fetched dream. Simeone can enlighten the fire in the players to win. He can spread of essence of win to all the players and help them shed their dull attitude. A team can only win the titles, if they have the attitude of a champion. Simeone can prove to be source of positive vibes for all the players.
#5 He can resolve style of play and striker woes:-
The style of play that is flourishing in the Premier League is - strong defence and counter-attack. The last two teams that have won the league title (Chelsea and Leicester City) have been the teams, who have employed the same tactic. Simeone can help Arsenal develop into a strong counter-attacking team. It would be beneficial for them in the much hyped away matches, where they have struggled a lot this season. Simeone can also help them find a good out and out striker. He has the credit of creating a few world-class strikers like Greizmann, Torres and Falcao. So, definitely he has the credentials to give a world-class striker to the Gunners.
