The World Laughter Day is knocking on the door as it is time to bring out the best in ourselves to enjoy a hearty laugh. Laughing is the best practice that we can indulge in order to remain healthy throughout our lives. Hence, to commemorate this unique gift of laughter, the World Laughter Day was introduced into the society.
Dr. Madan Kataria, a family physician based in Mumbai, was the first to introduce this festivity of laughter in India on 10 January 1998. He was the founder of the Laughter Yoga Movement in India which gradually spread globally. Dr. Kataria had started off this venture after his study that facial expressions have a genuine effect on our health. Thus, he practiced laughter along with his patients so that their health remains strong and immune.

Laughter helps in the reduction of the four stress hormones and builds our immunity. Thus, we develop both the physical and the emotional strength required to take up the challenges that come our way.

The World Laughter Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month of May all over the globe. On this day, people come together to crack hearty jokes, share funny happenings and ultimately laugh their hearts out till their abdomen starts aching. This feeling of happiness spreads all around the world and helps to minimize the rising hatred and negativity in the world.
