The two well known franchises of IPL who were banned in fixing saga after the IPL 2015 are set to make their return to IPL in its next edition. BCCI confirmed in an official statement that both the franchise will make their comeback to next year’s IPL. Along with these two teams a north Indian team is expected to join IPL. Allegedly, a company is in talks to buy one of the north Indian team for the successive edition of IPL. It will be interesting to see if the talks do turnout positive and a new team does makes its appearance. It would be very beneficial for the youngster of that area when the spotlight of IPL falls on them. Also, it will be very crucial in finding new talents in that area.
Chennai Super Kings
Both CSK and Rajasthan royals were banned by the Supreme Court for 2 years and the ban will be lifted next year. According to credible media reports, CSK has also started preparing for its comeback season and are expecting Dhoni to return to his old franchise. There was major stir among the fans of Dhoni after the co-owner of the RPS made controversial comments on Dhoni due to lack of his form. The wife of Dhoni, Sakshi Dhoni, also hinted his return to the 2 times IPL champion team by posting a selfie in the helmet and dress of CSK.
However, there has been no hint given by the former Indian team captain himself. It is reported that there was major fallout between the co-owners and MS Dhoni after the former compared him with their new captain Australian Captain Steven Smith. Before the start of the IPL 10, Dhoni was removed from the captaincy of RPS which was not well taken by his followers. Dhoni has not been in best of his form lately for which he has been criticized quite a lot. Dhoni has always answered his critics with the bat and we expect the same from him this time as well. According to The Hindu Mr. Srinivasan said,” MS, wearing yellow and leading the CSK team onto the ground and come 2018 there is every possibility of it happening. We will be back with a bang.” He is the co-owner of the CSK franchise and is all ready to make a dynamic entry into the IPL 11.
On the other hand, RR will make an entrance into the IPL but with a change in their name. Allegedly, co-owners Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra are looking for new investors for the franchise. There is also a possibility that they might want to sell the team. RR were the winners of the first edition of the IPL under the captaincy of Shane Warne.
Coming into the tournament they were considered the weakest team but Shane Warne and his boys did the unthinkable and won the championship.
IPL started in the year 2008 and all the teams were given rights for 10 years. So next year every player will go under the hammer. It would be very exciting next year, with the return of the old franchise and the addition the new franchise, how teams go about their combination. Also, players like Dhoni, Gambhir, Virat etc. will be attracting staggering amount of money. A bid war is most certain to happen among the franchise to get the sign of the top Indian Cricket Team players. Players like Dhoni and Virat have never had to go through the auction as the franchises had the option to retain their main players. IPL 11 is all set to be a biggest event of them all and involve plenty of more money in the already cash rich league.
