Summer is up and so are the fears of acne prone. But do not panic! This article will help you out. It is easy to prevent acne if you know how they are formed, why they are formed. Let us have a deeper look:

How does acne occur?



Your body generates oil to moisturize your skin. This oil flows to the surface of the skin through the tiny pores of the skin. Sometimes when these pores are blocked by the dust particles, the oil is stopped from escaping and accumulates under the pores. The bacteria find a good ambience in this region and lead to the formation of a puss like material under the surface of the skin. This is called acne.

What are the notorious acne causing agents?

1. Oily foods

The Fats in oily foods try to moisturize your skin. When the skin pores are blocked, fats accumulate under the blocked skin pores and produces acne.

2. Hormones

Certain female hormones make the body secrete more oil to keep women hydrated during menstruation. This is the reason why women encounter acne despite keeping away from the oily foods.



3. Pollution

As discussed earlier, blockage of the skin pores are is the root cause of acne. Dust particles are one of the major blocking agents. Polluted environment subjects your skin to an ocean of very tiny dust particles that stealthily enter and reside in your skin pores.



4. Dandruff

The dead skin in the scalp gets dried and break into tiny particles. This is what you call the dandruff. While dust is a foreign blocking agent, dandruff is a local one. But both do the same to your skin. When the dandruff in the scalp fall on the surface of the skin, the tiniest ones get trapped in the skin pores, thus acting as a blocking agent.



5. Make up

It is not just about the quality of the cosmetics you use but about how you remove the makeup in the end of the day. Improper cleansing leaves some makeup left into your sin pores that eventually block the secreted oils and lead to the formation of acne.

6. Sweets

Sweets contain glucose. This glucose reaches the liver and gets converted into fatty acids (fats). These fatty acids lead to excess oil secretion that produces acne.



7. Heat

Heat has a direct influence on the formation of acne. The oil producing sebaceous glands become overactive when subjected to heat. This is why you get acne in summer.

Natural remedies

1. Cleansing

Keeping your skin clean is the most simple and best way to avoid acne. Use a mild soap or an anti-acne face wash to massage your face gently for 30-40 seconds. Make sure that the product forms a good amount of lather to take away with it any impurity on your skin surface.

2. Toning

Tonners are used to remove the dirt that stay resistant to the face wash. Take some tonner in a cotton ball and rub it gently all over the face. Tonner pulls all the dirt in the skin surface. Then use another cotton ball to wipe away the tonner along with the dirt. There are a lot of tonners available in the market. In case that you want to make your own tonner, use green tea. Green tea is a great oxidising agent as well as a tonner.

3. Oil cleansing

The water proof cosmetics are great but are adamant too. It is not so easy to remove them from your face just using your soap and water. This is where oil cleansing comes into play. Take some olive oil and massage it all over your face. Leave it for some time so that the makeup gets dissolved in the oil. Then use your soap/face wash to wash your face. Make sure that you wash away all the oil properly.



4. Exfoliation

Exfoliation is the method of using granular particles to was your face so that they penetrate and clean the skin pores from inside. Use a good quality scrub available in the drug stores. Remember, exfoliation is good but too much exfoliation can damage your skin too.



5. Fenugreek

Fenugreek is an excellent agent to prevent and cure acne. Fenugreek can balance your hormones and meanwhile cool down your body.  Soak fenugreek in water overnight and consume it in the morning. Drinking the water you used to soak it can help you cut down your body heat too. Also, fenugreek powder can be used as a face mask and for exfoliation.


6. Water

Drinking a lot of water can help you reduce your body heat and also to flush the toxins out of your body through urine.




7. Honey

Honey is an antioxidant that can help your body in a lot of ways. Honey can be applied on your face as its antibacterial properties can fight the acne causing bacteria and also moisturize your face.




8. Lime

Lime is an excellent agent to lighten acne scars. Mix two to five drops of lime juice with a tablespoon of honey and put it like a mask on your face. Leave it for 15 minutes and then wash it off. The lime juice will lighten your face and absorb the excess oil meanwhile the honey will moisturize your face optimally to prevent it from going super dry.
